As a Graphic Recorder I attend meetings, workshops and presentations and listen, think and record communications.
I endeavour to capture content in real time using large sheets of paper and markers (analogue), or using an iPad (digital).
I use a combination of skills including deep listening, synthesis, critical thinking skills, as well as drawing, typography and layout design.
This process gives two results. It provides the act of live graphic recording of content, and a product – the artefact created during the session.
About 65% of us are visual learners, when we “see it, we get it” so using my service I provide a clear way of organising information for both the eye and brain and this shows the participants the ‘BIG picture’, or ‘Keeping everyone on the same page’.
I have in the past worked in partnership with Facilitators and together we hope to enrich understanding on the topic, trigger new ideas and promote active participation.
My Graphic Recording can also enable creative problem-solving and spark collective insight.
In this new digital age, shorter attention spans are becoming the norm. The internet has literally trained us to consume knowledge differently. We are learning in soundbytes, or rather sightbytes! Organisations need to be smarter at connecting with their audience. Combining visuals with text isn't simply more engaging - it's proven! Researchers have found that colour and visuals increase willingness to learn up to 80%! Most people are visual learners so take advantage of it!
